17 months, 43 countries, and 2 vehicles

Welcome to the Camelworld website. This site chronicles the round-Africa adventures of the Camel, a 1997 evented Camel Trophy Discovery between November 2002 and March 2004.

If you're here because you're planning your own African adventure you'll find a wealth of resources and information in the Planning and Download sections; if you're an armchair traveller settle down to the diary section and dreams of endless sand....

Newsflash.
I got close to him in Khartoum when I uncovered his hideout but he’d skipped town (a few years previously). I tacked him through the Middle East, but the trail went cold. But I never give up.

And then, finally, after a night of fearsome curry and lager, I found Osama Bin Laden. Yes, there I was, intrepidly venting my bowels on my antique “Empire Wash Down Closet” when, between my own two legs I espied my quarry. He thought he was safe, but sometimes there’s just nowhere you can hide. Can I have my $25m now please?

The missing photos:
These are a few photos that Richard took, and I've scanned in, showing us getting stuck in deep sand ruts in Chad, and a spectacular one of Mandy the Landy looking rather battered after the Crash in North Spain.

Did Stacey make it to Windhoek, or was she really abducted by a passing rugby team? Smart money is now on the rugby team.

Rugby World Cup and the wanderings of the Camel - is it coincidence that I end up in a sports bar for every game?
